Blackboard is an online web conferencing system.

There are a few things you need to do:

1. Blackboard runs on Java. Find out if your computer has the correct version of Java installed. Click on this link to find out.

2. It is possible that if you have Windows 8 or 10 the website above will say that you are running an unknown or unsupported Operating System. That will be ok.

3. You will need a headset with a microphone. Make sure you know where and how to plug it in.

3. It will ask you to download the launcher. This can take between 10 – 20 minutes depending on your connection, so probably best to do this prior to the session.
To install the launcher:
• Click on run and follow the prompts.
• When installed click on the join button the on webpage.
• Add your name and centre in the login box
• You may need to click OPEN at the bottom or the browser page, which will download the software entitled classroomapp.jar
• If you have a firewall and that brings up a dialogue box, just click allow access.
• You will have to choose your connection type and speed from a dialogue box.

4. It is recommended that your try it all out a few days before the session. There are always little things to sort and check.

5. We will send you an email two days before the session with contact details to see how you are going and give you some contact details for in the day.
